英国GCSE课程的英文全称是General Certificate of Secondary Education，中文译为普通中等教育证书，简称为GCSE，英国GCSE课程是英国学生完成第一阶段中等教育所参加的主要会考。

英国GCSE课程即英国普通初级中学毕业文凭，相当于中国国内的初中毕业考试文凭，但实际上，英国GCSE课程是英国中学10年级和11年级的学习课程，程度和要求都比国内初中毕业生要高，从理论上说应该是国内的高一学生申请较为合适。经过两年英国GCSE课程学习后，学生方可进入A -LEVEL阶段的学习。学生英国GCSE课程的成绩将被作为A- LEVEL甚至大学录取的参考。
1. 英国GCSE课程学制
英国GCSE课程有一年制和两年制之分。英国GCSE课程学制非常灵活，对于初三毕业或高一在读的中国学生我们建议其入读两年制的英国GCSE课程，也可通过学生本人的英语水平和在校成绩缩短学习时间。传统的两年制英国GCSE课程相当于中国的高一和高二，快捷的一年制英国GCSE课程（一般英国学校不开）则相当于中国的高中二年级。
2. 英国GCSE课程设置
在英国GCSE课程阶段，学生通常用两年学习8-12门课程，大多数学生都会学习学校规定的必修课。必修课包括英语、数学、设计与技术、语言、自然科学、资讯与通讯技术及体育等。选修课程有艺术与设计、商务、戏剧、经济学、工程学、卫生与社会护理、休闲与旅游、音乐、物理及宗教等。
3. 英国GCSE课程考核
两年的课程结束后，需参加英国GCSE课程的统一考试，学生的成绩主要取决于考试，只有少数科目是根据学生全年的学习情况进行评估，考试结果分A+（最高）到G。还包括U与X，U就是0。X为未参加考试。
4. 英国GCSE课程的申请要求

英国GCSE课程每年9月开学，一般应提前3-6个月申请，申请要求主要有：
1.      年龄：13-15岁
2.      初中毕业证书
3.      中学各阶段考试成绩
4.      英语水平证明
5.      有缴纳学费和生活费的能力
6.      有法定监护人

1. If students are aiming for an Economics Related degree in the Top UK
universities: Cambridge, Oxford, London School of Economics (LSE), University
College London (UCL), Warwick, Bristol, York
Students MUST choose: Mathematics and Economics.
Students are strongly advised to choose: Further Mathematics, and one from Physics,
Chemistry, Psychology, Geography
NOT advised to choose: Business studies together with Accounting
NEVER choose: Economics, Accounting and Business Studies together
如果学生想就读与经济相关的专业，且打算进入英国顶尖大学：剑桥大学，牛津大学，伦敦政治经济学院，伦敦大学，华威大学，布里斯托大学，约克大学等。
学生必须选择：数学，经济
强烈建议选择的课程：高等数学，再从物理，化学，心理学和地理中任选一门
不建议选择的课程：商务学和会计学一起选
不要选择：经济学，会计学和商务一起选

2. If students are aiming for an Engineering Related degree in the Top UK
universities: Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College, University College London (UCL),
King’s College London (KCL), Edinburgh, Bristol, Warwick, St Andrews, Bath
Students MUST Choose: Mathematics, Physics, Further Mathematics
Students are strongly advised to choose: one from Chemistry, Biology, Psychology,
Economics, Geography
如果学生选择就读与工程学有关的专业，并且将来打算进入英国顶尖大学：牛津大学，剑桥大学，帝国理工，伦敦大学，国王学院，爱丁堡大学，布里斯托大学，华威大学，圣安德鲁斯大学，巴斯大学等
学生必须选择：数学，物理，高等数学
强烈建议学生选择的课程：从化学，生物，心理学，经济和地理中任选一门。

3. If aiming for a Medicine degree in any UK universities
Students MUST choose: Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology
Students are strongly advised to study: Physics or Psychology
如果学生选择就读与医学相关的专业，并想入医学相关的英国任何一所大学的话：
学生必须选择：数学，化学和生物学
强烈建议选择：物理或心理学

4. If aiming for an Architecture degree in the Top UK universities: Cambridge,
University College London (UCL), Edinburgh, Manchester, Architectural Association

Students MUST Choose: Mathematics, Physics and Art
Students are strongly advised to choose: History of Art
如果学生选择就读与建筑学相关的专业，并且将来打算进入英国顶尖大学：剑桥大学，伦敦大学，爱丁堡大学，曼彻斯特大学，建筑联盟学院等
学生必须选择：数学，物理和艺术
强烈建议选择：艺术史

5. If aiming for a Psychology degree in the Top UK universities: Oxford, Imperial
College, Edinburgh, UCL and King’s College
Students MUST choose: Mathematics
Students are strongly advised to choose: Chemistry, Psychology or Physics
Options: any subjects preferably traditional subjects

6. If aiming for a Business degree in the Top UK universities: King’s, London
School of Economics, Warwick, Bath
Students MUST choose: Mathematics and Economics
Options: any subjects preferably traditional subjects

7. If aiming for an Accounting and Finance degree in the Top UK universities:

Students are strongly advised to choose: Economics
Optional Subjects: Accounting, Business Studies, Physics, and anything that interests
him/her
NEVER Choose: Business Studies, Accounting at the same time

10.   If aiming for a Media, Advertising or Marketing in any UK universities
Students MUST choose: Mathematics
Students are strongly advised to choose one or more from: Art and Design,

Photography, Media, Business Studies
如学生想就读传媒，广告或市场相关专业，并想入传媒相关的英国大学的话：
学生必须选择：数学
强烈建议选择：从艺术与设计，摄影，传媒，商务学中选择一门或更多

11.   If aiming for a Computer Science in the Top UK universities: Imperial, UCL,
Warwick, Bristol, Oxford, Cambridge
Students MUST choose: Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics
Students are strongly advised to choose: IT, or Chemistry
如果学生选择就读与计算机通讯相关的专业，并且将来打算进入英国顶尖大学：帝国理工学院，伦敦大学，华威大学，布里斯托大学，牛津大学，剑桥大学等
学生必须选择：数学，高等数学，物理
强烈建议选择：信息通讯技术或化学
